A Gift of a Diamond
The Diamond That Started It All
My husband’s former boss, Chelsey, won a loose diamond on EBTH.com and shared it on her Instagram story. I asked for all the details and immediately started creating mockups using ChatGPT and editing them in Canva. She loved one of the designs!
At the time, I was sitting in a hospital bed preparing for ear surgery. Right from my bed, I messaged a jeweler on Etsy who had great reviews and fit our price range. I sent over the design specifications, Chelsey’s ring size, and the concept.
Without ever touching the diamond or the gold, holding inventory, or having professional CAD training, I coordinated the entire process remotely. The finished band was shipped directly to Chelsey, and she worked with a local jeweler in her area to set the stone. I loved that the project allowed us to support a local business.
Chelsey’s Ring and Her Experience

Chelsey’s custom ring and client testimonial. The band was shipped to her, and her diamond was set by a local jeweler.
“She listened deeply to what I envisioned, created multiple designs with patience and intention, and never rushed the process!”
— Chelsey
Creating Beauty Through Pain
As a VA-designated homebound veteran living with chronic pain and AuDHD, this experience showed me what was possible. I was able to create, experience joy, and work remotely.
Even though I never physically held the finished ring, I loved every part of the process. It felt like everything in my life had led to that moment, like nothing had been in vain. Without a degree or inventory, I had helped bring a beautiful project to life.
It wasn’t about money. It was about watching a passion come to fruition and finding a new way to serve others outside of my military uniform.
A Gift That Became My Own Dream
On my birthday, Chelsey asked what my dream stone would be. Without hesitation, I told her a princess-cut diamond over four carats, set as a kite at a 45-degree angle.
Remarkably, she won a stone matching that description! When she gifted it to me and sent the IGI report, my main focus became getting it set safely before anything happened to it.
While working toward that goal, I would sit at my computer desk with the diamond in a temporary ring holder, admiring it. But every time I got up to wash my hands or use the restroom, I’d get frustrated with myself for wearing an unset stone around the house!
Looking for More Than a Price Quote
As I began reaching out for quotes, the conversations centered on pricing, but I was looking for something more: someone who would listen to my vision, explain the process, and collaborate with me before production.
I wanted to ask questions, explore the possibilities, and review and approve a design before it was made. I wanted a personal experience, not just a price quote.
I researched options using ChatGPT and discovered Stuller. I called to ask about the requirements for an account and got to work meeting them. I even brought my diamond to a local jeweler listed on Stuller’s locator. They were so impressed with the stone that they encouraged me to keep pursuing my account.
When my account was finally approved, it felt like a dream come true. I could wake up every day, research materials, explore designs, and study the industry with a clear purpose.
The Birth of My Hero Ring
Once connected with Stuller, I refined the design. What my Hero Ring is today looks nothing like the original mockup!
To me, it stands as a symbol of hard work, determination, and the belief that what you put out into the world can come back to you in unexpected ways.
It reminds me that my circumstances do not erase my creativity or my ability to contribute. What began with helping someone else bring her vision to life became a new way to see what was possible in my own life.
That experience is part of the heart behind Savea ʻOhana Creations: listening to the story behind a vision, collaborating with skilled people, and helping bring something meaningful to life.
Creating beauty through pain is my story. Helping you create beauty through your vision is my mission.
